Konstrukcja There is / There are

Konstrukcja “There is / There are….” jest jedną z pierwszych konstrukcji jakich się nauczymy rozpoczynając nasza przygodę z językiem angielskim. Konstrukcja There is / There are oznacza „być, znajdować się, istnieć”. Jeśli chcemy powiedzieć, że książka jest na biurku możemy to powiedzieć na dwa sposoby:

The book is on the desk.

Książka jest na biurku.

Mówimy tutaj o konkretnej książce (the book).

There is a book on the desk.

Na biurku jest książka.

Nie wiemy co to za książka, na biurku leży jakaś książka (a book).

PAMIĘTAJ!

Przy konstrukcji There is / There are nigdy nie używamy przedimka określonego the.

There is / There are z rzeczownikami niepoliczalnymi

A co zrobimy z rzeczownikami niepoliczalnymi takimi jak: flour, water czy rice? Rzeczowniki niepoliczalne potraktujemy jak rzeczowniki w liczbie pojedynczej i damy czasownik w liczbie pojedynczej „is”.

Tworzenie pytań z There is / There are

W języku angielskim pytania tworzymy poprzez inwersję, czyli zmieniamy szyk zdania. Oznacza to, że zamieniamy miejscami czasownik (is/are) z zaimkiem (there).

Zaprzeczenia z There is / There are

Z konstrukcją There is / There are przeczenia tworzymy poprzez dodanie słówka not. Wstawiamy je po There is / There are, ale przed resztą zdania. Z tą konstrukcją możemy używać form skrótowych – isn’t, aren’t.
