English tenses: Future Continuous
The Future Continuous is a progressive tense that we use to talk about activities that will be in progress in the future. This tense uses the verbs in the present participle (verb-ing).
Affirmative sentences in Future Continuous
We use will, the verb to be, and the main verb in the present participle to form sentences. The verb to be is in the bare infinitive form (which means it’s not preceded by to).
Subject + will + be + verb-ing + the rest of the sentence
Negative sentences in Future Continuous
Negative sentences are formed by adding not between will and be.
Subject + will + not + be + verb-ing + the rest of the sentence
Questions in Future Continuous
Questions in the Future Continuous are formed by the inversion of will.
Will + subject + be + verb-ing + the rest of the sentence
The Usage of Future Continuous
We use Future Continuous to:
Next week I will be relaxing on the beach.
I will be cooking when you come to visit.
You will be feeling a little sick after taking this pill.
Adam? He’ll be sleeping now.
Will you be coming to her party?
Next week, he will still be working on this project.
We’re going to Boston tomorrow, but we won’t be staying with my parents.
I’ll be taking care of her for the next month.
