Few, a few, little<\/strong>, and a little<\/strong> all mean \u201csome\u201d or \u201ca small amount.\u201d But little<\/strong> and few<\/strong> are often used in a negative way, to say there is less than we want or expect.<\/p>\n

Few and A Few (Countable Nouns)<\/h2>\n

We use few<\/strong> and a few<\/strong> only with countable<\/strong> nouns\u2014things we can count (like apples, books, or friends).<\/p>\n

A few<\/strong> means \u201csome,\u201d a small number, but enough.<\/div>\n
I have a few<\/strong> friends.

Few<\/strong> means \u201cnot many,\u201d almost none, less than expected.<\/div>\n
