These questions follow <strong>inversion<\/strong>, meaning the verb comes before the subject.<\/p>\n<p><b>Examples of Inversion:<\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"lineX\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><strong>He is a doctor.<\/strong> (statement)<br \/>\n<strong>Is he a doctor?<\/strong> (question with inversion)<\/div>\n<p>As you can see, we inverted (moved to the first position) the verb \u201cto be&#8221;. We invert \u201cto be&#8221;, the main verb or the auxiliary verb.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineX\"><strong>She baked cookies.<\/strong> (statement)<br \/>\n<strong>Did she bake cookies?<\/strong> (question with inversion using \u201cdid\u201d in Past Simple)<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineX\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><strong>He will fix my car.<\/strong> (statement)<br \/>\n<strong>Will he fix my car?<\/strong> (question with inversion using \u201cwill\u201d in Future Simple)<\/div>\n<p>To form an<strong> object question<\/strong>, we place a <strong>question word before the inverted verb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineX\"><strong>What did she bake?<\/strong> (instead of \u201cShe baked what?\u201d)<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineX\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><strong>What will he give you?<\/strong> (instead of \u201cHe will give you what?\u201d)<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ellalanguage.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ellalanguage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Banery_reklamowe_nowe-copy-14.png\" alt=\"English? Unlike object questions, they do not use inversion\u2014the sentence follows a normal statement structure.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineX\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><strong>He is a teacher.<\/strong> (statement)<br \/>\n<strong>Who is a teacher?<\/strong> (subject question, no inversion)<\/div>\n<p>To form a <strong>subject question<\/strong>, we replace the <strong>subject<\/strong> of the sentence with <strong>who<\/strong> or <strong>what<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineX\"><strong>Who likes oranges?<\/strong><br \/>\n(instead of \u201cWho does like oranges?\u201d)<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineX\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><strong>What is making that noise?<\/strong><br \/>\n(instead of \u201cWhat does make that noise?\u201d)<\/div>\n<p>Unlike <strong>object questions<\/strong>, <strong>do\/does\/did<\/strong> is <strong>not<\/strong> used in <strong>subject questions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineX\"><strong>Where does she work?<\/strong><br \/>\n<h2>Sentence Structure in English<\/h2>\n<div class=\"leftonedot30\"><strong>Subject<\/strong> = The person or thing performing the action.<\/div>\n<p
