What are homophones? They are words that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings. Because they are similar, they can be easily confused &#8211; especially in writing.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"margin-bottom: 10px;\">To Sew<\/h2>\n<p><strong>To sew<\/strong> means to stitch. We use this verb when referring to joining materials together using a needle and thread. <strong>Sew<\/strong> is a regular verb, and its past tense is <strong>sewed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineXp\">I need to <strong>sew<\/strong> a patch on my jacket.<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineXp\">She can <strong>sew<\/strong> buttons onto shirts.<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineXp\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\">He learned to <strong>sew<\/strong> his pants after they ripped.<\/div>\n<h2 style=\"margin-bottom: 10px;\">To Sow<\/h2>\n<p><strong>To sow<\/strong> means to plant seeds. This verb is used when referring to scattering seeds on the ground with the intention of growing them. The past tense of <strong>sow<\/strong> is <strong>sowed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineXp\">The gardener will <strong>sow<\/strong> the flowers in the garden.<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineXp\">They <strong>sow<\/strong> seeds to grow vegetables.<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineXp\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\">We <strong>sowed<\/strong> grass in the backyard last week.<\/div>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Sow<\/strong>\u201d also appears in several idioms:<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineX\"><b>You reap what you sow.<\/b><br \/>\nWhat you do comes back to you.<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineX\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><b>He sowed wild oats in his youth.<\/b><br \/>\nHe behaved recklessly in his younger years.<\/div>\n<h2 style=\"margin-bottom: 10px;\">So<\/h2>\n<p>The word <strong>so<\/strong> can be an adverb, a conjunction, or a pronoun.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"margin-bottom: 10px;\">So as an Adverb<\/h3>\n<p>As an adverb, <strong>so<\/strong> strengthens adjectives or other adverbs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineXp\">The book was <strong>so<\/strong> interesting!<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineXp\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\">They all worked <strong>so<\/strong> quietly!<\/div>\n<h3 style=\"margin-bottom: 10px;\">So as a Conjunction<\/h3>\n<p>As a conjunction, <strong>so<\/strong> connects sentences or parts of sentences to show consequences or results.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lineXp\">It started to rain, <strong>so<\/strong> we went inside.<\/div>\n<div class=\"lineXp\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\">He didn\u2019t study, <strong>so<\/strong> he failed the exam.<\/div>\n<h3 style=\"margin-bottom: 10px;\">So as a Pronoun<\/h3>\n<p>As a pronoun, <strong>so<\/strong> replaces a previously stated idea or phrase.
