English tenses: Future Continuous<\/h1>\n

The Future Continuous is a progressive tense that we use to talk about activities that will be in progress in the future. This tense uses the verbs in the present participle (verb-ing).<\/p>\n

Affirmative sentences in Future Continuous<\/h2>\n

We use will,<\/i> the verb to be<\/i>, and the main verb in the present participle to form sentences. The verb to be<\/i> is in the bare infinitive form (which means it\u2019s not preceded by to)<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Subject<\/span> + will<\/span> + be<\/span> + verb-ing<\/span> + the rest of the sentence<\/h5>\n
I<\/span> will<\/span> be<\/span> making<\/span><\/strong> a cake tomorrow.<\/div>\n

Negative sentences in Future Continuous<\/h2>\n

Negative sentences are formed by adding not<\/i> between will<\/i> and be<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Questions in Future Continuous<\/h2>\n

Questions in the Future Continuous are formed by the inversion of will<\/i>.<\/p>\n

The Usage of Future Continuous<\/h5>\n

We use Future Continuous to:<\/p>\n

+ talk about an activity that will happen at a specified time in the future<\/b><\/div>\n
I will be meeting him next week.
\nNext week I will be relaxing on the beach.<\/div>\n
+ talk about longer activity that will be interrupted by a shorter action in the future<\/b><\/div>\n
At 8 a.m. I’ll be driving to work.
\nI will be cooking when you come to visit.<\/div>\n
+ predict the future<\/b><\/div>\n
I expect we will be waiting for hours for him.
\nYou will be feeling a little sick after taking this pill.<\/div>\n
